Travel to

this CD, designed for maximum ease of navigation and minimum clicking. Listen
to the narrations as you watch the pictures, and travel from mountain glaciers
down the valleys to the coast, and continue your journey on the sea shelf and
down to the abyss of the oceans. A treat for the student or the amateur
geologist, and for any mind curious of the processes of Nature. This learning tool
provides a systematic analysis of depositional environments; designed with
minimal jargon, all scientific terms are described in a comprehensive glossary.
The teacher
in Earth Sciences will find a wealth of data to illustrate his courses: the
high resolution pictures allow reproduction in the form of posters. The professional
geologist will find a rich database of pictures, with can be used as training

Navigation through the CD goes from higher level broader
environmental schemes in the form of 3D diagrams (eg. left) down progressively
to more specific environments (right) and finally to detailed images like those
above. We are presently working on compilation of the data we have as well as features we would like to see in the product. This is the 3D diagram of the Alluvial fan environment. The numbers shown on the diagram are locations of where thumbnails of picture analogues will be placed. Clicking on these thumbnails will allow for details to be seen. This creates a greater visual awareness of the spatial locations of the picture analogues we present in this products. |
