"I received my CD-Rom on Sarawak very swiftly and
efficiently from Malaysia in response to my order - inside a week. It is
excellent. The scenes really do make you homesick for Sarawak and the
geological tours are very good. I think it does indeed give a visitor an
excellent taste of Sarawak and will help to develop the kind of tourism
and enthusiasm that is needed to preserve that environment. The geology is
also a very good introduction for non geologists working in the oil
industry or related industries. A small criticism - from my wife Judy -
some of the geological photos do not have a scale. And you never tell us
how high the tallest limestone pinnacles in the world are. Congratulations
on a splendid product which I would imagine will sell very well over the
internet to travellers - eco and otherwise!",
Mark Moody-Stuart, Chairman, Board of Directors, Shell
International Petroleum Company. (29th March 1999).
"I loved the CD: very well done and most interesting, especially
to one who has been there."
Brian Anderson, Chairman, Shell China Ltd. (2nd March 1999)
"I must congratulate you for producing such a high quality
CD-ROM on Northern Sarawak. The contents are useful and informative not
only to geologists but also to students and other nature enthusiasts. From
a tourism point of view it provides useful promotional materials for such
niche market areas.",
YB Dato Dr. James Jemut Masing, Minister of Tourism, Sarawak
(18th February 1999). (Letter)
"Only to be described in superlatives. Highly flexible in moving
around from section to section. Quality of the documentation very good,
level of detail very rich...A historic document of the contribution of the
Oil Industry to the geological knowledge of Northern Sarawak and the
Tertiary stratigraphy of the area.",
Peter Nagtegaal, previous Exploration Manager (now retired),
Sarawak Shell Berhad, Lutong, Sarawak. (February 1999).
"A very well designed product. The layout and design are
excellent making it very easy to navigate thru the information. I liked
the variety of background music too - made me somewhat homesick! Even
though there is quite a geological bias to it, there is also considerable
tourist type info for the less geologically inclined. The pictures are
really very illustrative and of very high quality. The voice over is of
high standard.",
Tan Ek Kia, General Manager, Shell China, Beijing, (23rd November
1998).
"Great overview of a key geological area of
Borneo.....intriguing old sedimentary rocks presented using new
interactive methods. Practical geological summaries, for both laymen and
specialists......",
Jeroen Peters, Exploration Manager, Brunei Shell Petroleum
Company Limited, Seria, Brunei Darussalam. (2nd November 1998) .
"The completion of the new multimedia CD entitled 'Destination
Miri - A Geological Tour. Northern Sarawak's National Parks and Giant
Caves', would be a boost to Miri and its surroundings.",
YB Datuk Amar Dr George Chan Hong Nam, Deputy Chief Minister of
Sarawak, when he launched the above CD-ROM in Miri. (25th October 1998).
