Miri is a bustling oil town on the NorthEast coast of Sarawak, Malaysia. It is experiencing a hectic development programme. The above picture is about 3 years old, but already the skyline has changed quite a bit. There are ambitious plans for Miri. In the above picture, the narrowest point in the peninsula is where a channel will be cut to form the new mouth of the river. The part of the river below that point to the present mouth will be completely infilled. This whole area forms the Miri Waterfront project which will give a complete facelift to Miri.
