Miri Town, view from the SouthWest....
This aerial picture of Miri is taken from a South Westerly direction and shows very nicely the peninsular separated from the main town center by the Miri river. The peninsular is a spit that developed across the mouth of the Miri river due to the prevalent North East to South West current direction. Access from the town to the peninsular at the river mouth end is by ferry. There is also a bridge across the river at the Lutong end which is approximately 10 km away.
